Our impact on the sporting world

Rouyn-Noranda shares a rich history with the National Hockey League. In fact, the region bounded by Rouyn-Noranda, Kirkland Lake and Timmins, with over 100 players, ranks in the top ten in the world (7th behind Calgary) as a hotbed of NHL players. Excluding its 5 goaltenders, Rouyn-Noranda's 22 skaters have amassed nearly 6,800 points. This places Rouyn-Noranda 19th for NHL points. If we consider the number of points produced in relation to city size, Rouyn-Noranda is in a class of its own.

The sporting accomplishments of Rouyn-Noranda Regional athletes don't just stop at hockey. Local athletes have also distinguished themselves in many other disciplines, including badminton, curling, baseball and cycling.
